Conference dominance is somewhat cyclical. The following links show conference rankings by decade.

SEE HERE (http://cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/rankings/decade_conf_rankings.php?period=1990-1999)

30's - SEC
40's - Big 10
50's - SEC
60's - SEC
70's - Big 12
80's - SEC
90's - Big 12
00 07 - SEC
The decades that we were not the dominate conference.........we were second.

A flaw I see in that, though, is that the Big 12 didn't exist in the 1970s, or even for most of the 1990s. You can't give the Big 12 credit for Texas while Texas was a member of the SWC, just like the ACC doesn't get credit for Miami in the 1980s or Florida State in the 1990s.

Don't know how they computed that.
