Nick Fanuzzi

Over on our ESPN affiliated site, a fan asked about Nick Fanuzzi. I knew you guys would be the most likely candidates to be able to answer my question. Why did he leave your team, and why was Rice the final destination?

He left due to playing time issues. He had fallen to fifth on the depth chart, even behind a walk-on. Plus, I think after Major Applewhite (who recruited him) left, Fanuzzi's support system was gone.

As for why he went to Rice, that was his second choice coming out of high school. Applewhite was offensive coordinator there before Alabama, and had begun recruiting Fanuzzi for the Owls.
