The Associated Press released its annual All-Southeastern Conference football teams on Monday, with Alabama claiming two of the four major individual awards.
Nick Saban was named SEC Coach of the Year by conference media after leading the Crimson Tide to the SEC West Division title in his second season. Alabama went 12-0 during the regular season, but lost to Florida 31-20 in the conference championship game.
Wide receiver
Julio Jones was named SEC Freshman of the Year. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Mobile native totaled 51 receptions for 847 yards and four touchdowns.
Alabama also had six players named first-team All-SEC, including two unanimous selections. Left tackle
Andre Smith earned a vote on every ballot, as did safety
Rashad Johnson.
Also earning first-team honors for the Crimson Tide were running back
Glen Coffee, center
Antoine Caldwell, defensive tackle
Terrence Cody and linebacker
Rolando McClain. Three players earned second-team nods: Jones, guard
Mike Johnson and cornerback
Javier Arenas.
Florida quarterback
Tim Tebow was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year, while Tennessee safety
