Alabama's Mike Johnson and Terrence Cody highlight the first Southeastern Conference Players of the Week for 2008.

Johnson was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, while Cody was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, in league honors announced on Tuesday.

Playing both left guard and left tackle, Johnson helped pave the way for a 239-yard rushing performance in Alabama's 34-10 win over Clemson last Saturday. Cody, making his first start for Alabama after transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, had four tackles as the Crimson Tide held Clemson to a net of zero yards rushing.

Other players honored by the SEC were Vanderbilt quarterback Chris Nickson (offensive player of the week), Kentucky defensive tackle Myron Pryor (defensive player of the week), Florida return specialist Brandon James (special teams player of the week) and Ole Miss running back Brandon Bolden (freshman of the week).
