Give Mike Shula at least a little credit.

He brought some quality guys to Alabama – some guys who might very well help bring Alabama its first national championship since 1992.

Saturday is Senior Day at Bryant-Denny Stadium when the No. 2-ranked Crimson Tide plays host to an outmanned Chattanooga squad. More than coming to the stadium to witness the outcome, which is, for all intents and purposes, a foregone conclusion, fans will come to witness stars like Javier Arenas, Mike Johnson, Drew Davis, Roy Upchurch, Colin Peek, Mike McCoy, Terrence Cody, Brandon Deaderick, Lorenzo Washington, Cory Reamer, Eryk Anders, Marquis Johnson, Justin Woodall, Leigh Tiffin and P.J. Fitzgerald perform in Tuscaloosa for the final time.

“It’s going to be pretty emotional,” Johnson said of his final game at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday. “Hopefully, we can go out with a bang. I love this place.”

All of those aforementioned seniors, save transfers Cody and Peek, were recruited and signed by former Alabama head coach Mike Shula and his staff.

No, Shula didn’t make those players the players they are today. Nick Saban and his staff deserve the credit for that. But ...
