Not sure if Colin Peek tweaked his injured knee this week, but going from a white jersey on Monday to a black jersey on Wednesday is not a good sign.

Peek, Alabama’s starting tight end and a favorite target of quarterback Greg McElroy, especially in the red zone, sprained his left knee during warm-ups for the Tennessee game on Oct. 24. He sat out last week’s practices and got some extra rest over the weekend with the Tide enjoying a bye week.

The plan was that Peek would ease back into practice this week with hopes that he would be ready to go for Saturday’s top 10 showdown with LSU.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban said Peek ran in the pool on Sunday and would run in practice Monday. During the brief media viewing period Monday, Peek was spotted wearing a regular white practice jersey and a brace and running short passing routes under the supervision of strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran. While he didn’t look 100 percent, he certainly appeared to be on course to be healthy enough for action by Saturday.

Peek wasn’t spotted in practice Tuesday, although reports were he was on the field briefly but left early, possibly because he re-aggravated the injury or possibly to receive treatment.

Whatever the case, Peek was back on the practice field Wednesday afternoon, this time sporting a black non-contact jersey as well as a brace. And this time ...
