New Alabama head basketball coach Anthony Grant landed at Tuscaloosa Regional Airport today around 1:20 pm and was greeted by more than 500 Crimson Tide fans.
“This is unbelievable. Unbelievable!" Grant told the crowd, which included the Alabama Pep Band, Crimson Caberet, and cheerleaders. "I having been coming here during my years at the University of Florida and getting booed. Getting cheered is unbelievable. I can't tell you how excited I am to be a part of the Alabama family. I can't tell you how excited I am about the future of Alabama basketball. Roll Tide!”
Grant attended church in Richmond this morning before being picked up the University of Alabama plane. He was accompanied by his wife, Christina, and their three children, all of whom were dressed in Alabama clothing.
Grant reportedly was not expecting to be greeted by a crowd upon his arrival. However, he addressed the crowd for a few moments. He then signed autographs and took pictures with fans before departing with Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore and Executive Athletics Director Dave Hart.
Grant will be formally introduced at press conference at 6 p.m. Sunday.
