Looks like there may be a darkhorse tight end prospect emerging for Alabama.

Eric Ebron (Greensboro, N.C./Ben Smith) already has Alabama in his top five, according to his high school coach Rodney Brewington.

And that's without an official offer from the Crimson Tide.

"I think by far his leader is North Carolina," Brewington told CrimsonConfidential.com Tuesday afternoon. "After that, I'd say it's Clemson, Rutgers, Miami and Alabama, and in that order."

Alabama has already offered two tight end prospects -- Cameron Clear (Memphis, Tenn./Central) and Jay Rome (Valdosta, Ga./Valdosta). Clear has named Alabama as his leader.

Should Alabama offer Ebron, it's likely the Tide would move up the pecking order. And with the way Ebron's recruiting is heating up, that's a distinct possibility. The kid already has offers on the table from North Carolina, North Carolina State, Duke, East Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Rutgers, Clemson, West Virginia, LSU and South Carolina.

Brewington honestly does think Alabama will follow suit at some point. He said Alabama assistant coach Bo Davis has already made the visit to Greensboro to visit Ebron.

"They definitely like what they saw in him and they want him to come for camp (in the summer)," Brewington said of Alabama's interest in Ebron.

The coach, however, isn't sure Ebron will make the trip to Tuscaloosa without an offer. With so many offers from so many other schools, Brewington thinks Ebron will stick to visiting one of those schools' camps this summer.

"But Alabama is one of the bigger schools in the country he's excited about," Brewington said.
