Carl Johnson (Theodore, Ala./Theodore) doesn't have an Alabama offer right now.

But he's working to change that by June.

The ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect is currently drawing interest from Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Louisville and Duke, and he was hearing from Tennessee, too, when former coach Lane Kiffin was there.

None of those schools, however, have pulled the trigger yet as far as offering.

And the one that would mean the most to Johnson if it did is the Crimson Tide.

"I think it's the best school in the nation you can go to, and I've been an Alabama fan since I was a kid," he told CrimsonConfidential.com late Monday afternoon. "I'm trying to work so I can become Alabama material."

For Johnson, becoming Alabama material, means becoming bigger and faster. He's working out twice a day right now -- once at his school and a second time at a local gym with a personal trainer.

He feels he's showing the most improvement in his lower body.

"I think my legs are getting real strong, and I've been working on my speed lately," he said.

The 6-foot-1 standout has added a few pounds of muscle and is now up to 223 pounds. The last time he was clocked in the 40 he ran a 4.7. He stars as an inside linebacker in high school, but he said Alabama is looking at him as ...
