The Crimson Tide moved up from No. 24 to No. 13 in the Associated Press poll of nationwide writers and broadcasters. Alabama received 834 poll points, just eight behind No. 12 Texas Tech and 15 behind No. 11 Wisconsin.
Alabama jumped into the USA Today coaches' poll at No. 17 after being first among "others receiving votes" in the preseason. The Crimson Tide received 538 poll points, 28 behind No. 16 Oregon.
