Cody, making his first start for Alabama after transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, had four tackles as the Crimson Tide held Clemson to a net of zero yards rushing.
Other players honored by the SEC were Vanderbilt quarterback Chris Nickson (offensive player of the week), Kentucky defensive tackle Myron Pryor (defensive player of the week), Florida return specialist Brandon James (special teams player of the week) and Ole Miss running back Brandon Bolden (freshman of the week).
