You probably haven't heard Adrian Hubbard's name much going into this year.
“That’s cool, I don’t expect people to care to know who I am yet. Time will take care of a lot of that. I let my game to do the talking.”
Adrian Hubbard, a 6 foot 7, 222 pound defensive end prospect from Georgia has seen his recruitment pick up tremendously. Considering that Hubbard did not even play football during his junior year, the strides that this prospect have made are outstanding. Hubbard played basketball this past summer for the Georgia Storm in AAU. This season, he decided to get back on the football field and he has not looked back since.
“Looking back, it was a mistake, I wish I played my junior year but I just have to learn from that and move forward. I think basketball helped me become a much better football player for a lot of reasons. My feet and overall agility is much better now than my sophomore year. It is because I play a position (small forward) in basketball where I’m going to have to move faster than my body lets me go sometimes. You don’t see many 6 foot 7 small forwards in high school.”
At 6 foot 7, it’s hard to miss Hubbard out in public, or on the football field for that matter.
“When you’re 6 foot 7, it always seems like that is the main topic of discussion. Everyone always asks me how tall I am and I get the tall people jokes here and there, but I don’t mind it.”
Hubbard now holds offers from Kentucky, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Clemson, NC State, Duke and most recently Maryland.
He has garnered interest from Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, UT, Ole Miss, and others.
He plans on taking a few visits and is taking a good hard look at any school that has something to offer him.
Alabama has been in the mix regarding this prospect for quite some time now.
