Looks like No. 5 Alabama will have to try and beat No., 7 Virginia Tech without the services of starting defensive end Brandon Deaderick.

Moments ago during the weekly SEC coaches teleconference, Alabama head coach Nick Saban said Deaderick "will probably miss the game, but it's fortunate he was not injured worse than he was."

Deaderick was shot in the arm Monday night by an assailant attempting to rob him. He was released from the hospital Tuesday and attended the team's afternoon practice.

Marcell Dareus and Luther Davis are the top two candidates to replace Deaderick Saturday when the Crimson Tide and Hokies meet in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
