The Associated Press released its All-America football team on Tuesday, with three Alabama players earning spots on the team.
The Crimson Tide's first-team All-Americans were offensive tackle Andre Smith, center Antoine Caldwell and defensive tackle Terrence Cody. The trio helped Alabama to a 12-1 mark and a berth in the Jan. 2 Sugar Bowl against Utah.
Safety Rashad Johnson was named to the second team, while linebacker Rolando McClain got a third-team nod. The AP All-America team is chosen by a nationwide panel of media members.

• Also Tuesday, Smith and Cody earned first-team spots on Phil Steele's All-America team, which mirrors the Football Writers Association of America picks released last week.
Steele also named second, third and fourth teams. Junior Javier Arenas was named second-team punt-returner, with McClain and Johnson also earning second-team spots and Caldwell picking up a third-team nod.

• Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones was named a Freshman All-American on Tuesday by The Sporting News, the same publication that named his SEC Freshman of the Year on Monday.

• Finally, Alabama coach Nick Saban has been named one of 20 finalists for the Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Award.
Saban previously was named Home Depot Coach of the Year by ESPN and AP SEC Coach of the Year. He won the Bryant Award in 2003 while at LSU.
